Homecoming

One voice resonates with an almost super-human understanding of these ancient hills of the Southern Blue Ridge Escarpment, and the many wonders and mysteries therein. It’s a voice that’s been missing – and missed – of late. It’s a passionate voice that reminds us that diversity creates resilience, and that humans, for all our many flaws and self-absorbed short-sighted goals, still fit neatly into the bigger ecological story of life on Planet Earth. How wonderful it is to hear Patrick McMillan’s voice again, extolling the many virtues of the Jocassee Gorges that he so clearly loves. Huge thanks to the Highlands Biological Station and its Director, Jim Costa, for bringing this voice back home. If you are unaware of the many wonderful nature programs offered through the Highlands Biological Station, I urge you to look beyond an imaginary state line and check them out.
